Dr. Ruth Potee

Dr. Ruth Potee visited Nantucket on February 12-13, 2020 to share her expertise in rural medicine and substance use disorder treatment. On Wednesday, February 12th Dr. Potee presented "Adolescent Brain Development" to a crowd at the Great Hall of the Atheneum. She covered normal brain growth as well as how disruptions by substance use can permanently damage the teen brain, and what outcomes are traceable to early life substance use.

The following day Dr. Potee provided training to island clinicians covering medication assisted treatment for substance use disorder and long term needs of patients in recovery.
